We’re back home!

This winter we closed up shop. Left here mid-November and only returned about a week ago. 4 months, or 17 weeks, on the road! This was the longest time that Audie has ever been away from Alaska. We had significant family affairs to look after, and some business interests in the lower-48 to tend to, hence the long trip. But we certainly didn’t miss out on winter! We came back to about 5 feet of snow and heavy rooftops. Nothing seems to be in danger of collapse, yet we’ve been shoveling every day since we’ve been back…shoveling roofs, shoveling decks, shoveling stairs, shoveling pathways. I’m a bit sore!

Audie shoveling the roof of our Great Room. There are massive overhangs of snow off every roof.

But as you can see from this picture, it's not too difficult shoveling the roofs as the snow is very compacted so after you hack a big chunk off, gravity is your friend!

This is the side deck of our house. Gravity was not our friend here! This is now finished so we can access the other door into the house.

Our super friend Alan plowed out our driveways and shoveled a pathway to our front door. What a champ!

If you call on the phone and we don’t answer, most likely we are up on one of the roofs. We have well over a dozen roofs here, and only one is completely finished!

It was soooo much fun to have you spend time with me this winter – haha, talk about a change of weaher, going from delightful Arizona days to snow shoveling – glad everything was in good order when you arrived back!
